Text: 1 John 2:15-17

This morning we’re going to explore John’s instruction, “do not love the world” and the reasons he gives to prove why we should not love it. Importantly, John doesn’t write about what we do or what we have, rather he wants to go deeper and for us to discern where our true values lie - he writes about what we love. Let’s join John’s original readers, as we examine what makes us tick.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
